It was indeed as sad moment for the Nigerian movie industry as famous comic actor Moses Olaiya Adejumo was reported dead. Popularly known as Baba Sala, the 81-year-old actor died on Sunday, October 7, in Ilesa, Osun state. Following his death, his family members have come out to warn everyone about some suspected internet fraudsters. They disclosed that someone has opened an online account in honour of the late comic actor. Punch reports that Baba Sala’s eldest son, Rev Bamidele Adejumo, explained that the family had not opened any account for the funeral of his father. He added that, the family members are embarrassed that some persons opened a fake account to solicit for funds from members of the public.
He said: “We have not opened any PayPal account or any online account. The claim is false information. The family has not asked for anything from anybody. We have not met and nobody is soliciting anything from anybody yet. If we will be expecting anything from any fans, admirers or anybody at all, it will be freewill donation. We have not opened any PayPal site or any intent account for people to donate to. Anybody who wants to donate anything to the family should please come to the family in Ilesa. Such people can come with pressmen and take photographs to document it. They should have standard record and avoid fraudsters. They should avoid fraudsters, who are posing as members of the family.” Another son of the deceased Emmanuel also disclosed that: “It has come to the knowledge of the Adejumo family that someone has posted that the family needs assistance, therefore, people should be donating into a PayPal account. This is a scam ooooo, big scam. Please kindly ignore this, it’s not from the family. Please do not honour it.”
